How We Met: John Michael and I (Carrie) met via a blogger. Kelly Stamps has been setting up people for the past 10 years. We were actually the 18th out of 23 couples who met via her. She created an Instagram account and people could message each other. So, I reached out to John Michael, and he asked me out on a date that same day. Our first date was 13 hours long.
The Proposal: John Michael had been working on a proposal for a while, but then COVID threw a wrench in the mix. He got all my friends to sing a line from my favorite Taylor Swift song and then put it together. My sister and best friend and her family were in my backyard with fun signs. Then he had an iPad set up to play the video. After the video ended, he was behind me proposing.
The Wedding Dress: The second I showed my roomies the dress, they both burst into tears and told me how much they loved it. I was able to get a custom bow made for the dress, which was a dream of mine!
Favorite Moment: We danced to our first song “Slow Dance in a Parking Lot,” and we got surprised by the actual singer himself singing on Zoom. We were so overwhelmed and grateful that he took the time to surprise us and perform his song for us to dance to.
Favorite Details: I loved how much we were tastefully able to add pink into our wedding. We also decided to have a tailgate wedding so that we could invite more people to our wedding. We had people sit in their cars and stream it via an FM radio station. It was very outside-the box but also so much fun!
