How We Met
We met in PE class in kindergarten at Shades Cahaba Elementary School circa 2003.
The Proposal
Griffin picked me (Julianne) up from my house like he always does, but he told me he had a letter for me. My whole family was already assembled in the living room, and Griffin led me in and began reading this beautiful letter out loud. Griffin writes me letters so this wasn’t a shock to me, but it was out loud, in front of my family. He read the second letter at our first date spot that overlooks downtown Birmingham, which is also where he first told me he loved me. The third letter’s location was at Monarch, our favorite coffee shop where we spent 90 percent of our time at UA in Tuscaloosa. Next, he took me to the infamous 409 house, and the fourth letter highlighted the guys in our friend group who have prayed over our relationship. Then at my old college house, the last letter centered around our girlfriends and the growth that was in this house. Griffin then drove me to a gorgeous house on Lake Tuscaloosa and led me around back, and I knew right away when I saw the picture of us on a table that today was THE day!
Favorite Moment
Griffin and I didn’t want to have a first look, but we shared our own written vows to each other, aka a “first touch.” It completely calmed my nerves and brought us so much peace.
Favorite Details
My something old was my Mimi’s broach, and my something new was my BHLDN flapper/fringe “exit” dress. My something borrowed was my mom’s best friend’s fur. She has all boys and she was so kind to want me to wear it on my big day! And my something blue was the hint of blue flowers in my LoveShackFancy reception sneakers.
