HOW DID YOU TWO MEET?
Lee and I met like many other couples–through a mutual friend! We both happened to be downtown one evening in December with different groups of friends. I was with my roommate, and we ran into a friend from college, who was with a couple of other guys, one of those being Lee. After catching up with the friend, he invited us to grab a drink with their group, and we spent a few hours hanging out.
THE PROPOSAL
Throughout our relationship, Lee had taken me to a beautiful overlook over the city of Birmingham to have important conversations. This was the location where he asked me to be his girlfriend and told me he loved me, so it carried sentimental value for us. After a dinner date one night, he asked me if I wanted to visit the spot while waiting for some friends to meet us for drinks at a nearby bar. Being completely oblivious, I said yes, and we drove up to the spot. I quickly figured out what was happening when he asked me to get out of the car in the rain! At the spot was a table with flowers and pictures from our relationship. After some sweet words, he got down on one knee and popped the question!
PREPARING FOR MARRIAGE
Before getting engaged, we started counseling with a pastor and his wife from Lee’s church, Oak Mountain Presbyterian Church, which would be where we eventually decided to attend church as a couple.
WEDDING MOMENTS
After our first look, we were able to have a quiet moment by ourselves, where we sat on the steps of Reid Chapel and read letters we had written to one another. This was a calming moment for both of us, as we were able to take a deep breath and take a moment to thank the Lord for all he had done to bring us to our wedding day.
