Local artist Thomas Andrew’s studio is hosting children’s art camps for students ages 8-12 years old this summer! Campers will get to learn about a new, famous artist each day and will get to draw, sketch or paint a different project based on that day’s featured artist. At the end of each camp week, the studio will host a 30-minute-long student showcase, where family and friends are invited to come see the campers’ artwork! Registration fees are $250 per child and include all art supplies necessary, daily snacks and a Thomas Andrew Art camp T-shirt, too. To learn more or register, click here.

Party on the Porch

Alabama Outdoors
This year, Alabama Outdoors will be hosting its monthly “Party on the Porch” community gatherings at its Homewood location on the first Friday of each month through October (July not included). With live music, food and beverage vendors, local artisans, games and activities and more, these events are the perfect outing for the whole family (leashed dogs are welcome, too). Every month, the event benefits a new, local nonprofit. While admittance is free, attendees who are of age are encouraged to purchase a $10 wristband whose proceeds benefit that month’s event’s beneficiary. Learn more here.
“Dear Jack, Dear Louise”

Homewood Theatre
Taking place during World War II, the romantic comedy, “Dear Jack, Dear Louise,” is based on the playwright’s parents and their love story. The plot opens with a penpal friendship that blossoms into a poignant fight for love. Homewood Public Library Community Art Show

Artists who are 18 years old or older may bring their artwork to the Homewood Public Library through Monday, June 30 and fill out and submit this form to enter the Homewood Public Library’s Second Annual Community Art Show! Accepted works of art will be displayed in the Ellenburg Art Gallery from July 1-26. A reception honoring the winners in each category will be held in the gallery on Saturday, July 26 from 4-5 p.m. All submitted entries must be PG-13. Artwork can be of any medium including 3-D art, fabric art, paintings, sculptures and more. Learn more here.
