HOW DID YOU TWO MEET?
We were introduced by our mutual friends, Maddie and Robert Sorrel. I attended Auburn University with them, and they were married five months before us! Both grooms were in each other’s weddings.
THE PROPOSAL
Ben proposed the Monday of the week before Thanksgiving. He told me we were having a holiday dinner with his sales team at The Grand Bohemian Hotel Mountain Brook and getting drinks beforehand. He drove us to a friend’s home on Crest Road, which has a beautiful view of the city. He walked me to their gazebo and popped the question while down on one knee! Both of our families were there along with our sweet dog, Ice. We did end up at The Grand Bohemian but actually to celebrate our engagement instead.
PREPARING FOR MARRIAGE
We spent time with our pastor who married us, Dr. Jim Cooley. This was one of our favorite times of wedding planning.
WEDDING MOMENTS
Ben and I both loved our first look. I know there are lots of divided opinions on a first look, but I couldn’t imagine losing that special moment. Being able to really enjoy that moment privately and have the day slow down a bit was so important. We both love our friends and family dearly and really wanted to be present during the reception as well. This took a lot of the pressure off of us later in the day.
