HOW DID YOU TWO MEET?
London and I are both from Tennessee, and our hometowns are about an hour apart. We also have many mutual friends, but it took us both moving to Birmingham to finally cross paths. I was in grad school at Samford University for speech pathology, and London moved to Birmingham to complete the Briarwood Fellows Program. Our first date was on a Monday night at Monday Night Brewing, and we stayed so late that we were the last two people in the brewery.
THE PROPOSAL
London proposed in downtown Chattanooga on May 6, 2023. Chattanooga is a very special city to us because London is from Chattanooga, and we have shared many special memories there. London had just finished his first year of medical school, and his family was planning to have a “making it through the first year of med school party” that evening to celebrate. That morning, London and I went to brunch downtown at one of our favorite restaurants, and then he asked me to go walk over by the river bluff. He led me to a gorgeous archway, where he then proposed!
PREPARING FOR MARRIAGE
We completed premarital counseling with our pastor, where we read “The 5 Love Languages” by Gary Chapman. We also read “The Meaning of Marriage” by Timothy Keller. We really enjoyed discussing our newfound knowledge with our pastor. These texts opened up fruitful and thought-provoking discussion on date night dinners.
WEDDING MOMENTS
I would give anything to relive walking down the aisle and feeling like the world had stopped spinning. I remember lining up for the processional and hearing our violinists begin playing. When the doors opened, I saw nothing else around me except London at the end of the aisle.
