How did you two meet?
Josh and I met at the University of Alabama. We were both freshmen in a leadership group together, and we were in the same small group meeting weekly. It was between him and me (and one of our groomsmen) in a competition for our small group to present at our end-of-the-year banquet. I ended up getting selected and reached out for help on the speech. We started studying together and hanging out. Then the first Monday after spring break, March 20, 2017, we started dating.
The Proposal
Josh made it so special! He had created a custom engagement ring for me that he picked out on his own! It was a total surprise! Josh proposed on November 13, 2020, during our graduation photos in front of Denny Chimes on campus. After I said yes, we went to the hotel Indigo rooftop restaurant to celebrate. When we walked in, both of our families and friends were there to celebrate!
Favorite Wedding Moment
Having our ceremony at Josh’s family’s church was such a special detail. Father Tom Ackerman, who married us, is a very close family friend. Having our reception at Vulcan was phenomenal because it incorporated a fun experience into the wedding. So many people got to go up into the tower and look at the city that we love so much.
Favorite Wedding Detail
We were intentional about having family details in our wedding. I asked the women in each of our families about their bouquets for their weddings and tried to incorporate their florals. I wore my grandmother’s wedding ring on my right hand since she had recently passed away before our engagement.
