How You Met
Ashley and Spencer both grew up in Homewood and went to Edgewood Elementary, HMS and HHS together. They were not in the same grade but always knew of each other. They became best friends in 2016 at the time that they each had broken a bone and were unable to participate in their team sports. Ashley reached out to Spencer, and they just clicked. They remained friends until they started dating after college.
The Proposal
They both grew up going to Smith Lake with their families almost every weekend of the summer. Some of their favorite memories growing up and during our relationship are from the lake. Spencer proposed on the boat one weekend in July 2020. It was a gorgeous day on the water and just the two of them on the boat. They ended up going back to the Smiths’ lake house, and both their our families and friends were there to celebrate with them. This memory will always be their favorite one at Smith Lake.
Favorite Moment
Spencer’s favorite moment of the day was watching Ashley walk down the aisle. Ashley’s favorite moment was the first dance when they got to be themselves in front of all of their friends and family, yet it felt as if they were the only two in the room.
Favorite Details
Some of their favorite details included those that are not with them anymore. Ashley’s grandfather passed away a month before the wedding suddenly, and her mom got a locket with a picture of her grandfather to put on her bouquet. She wears that charm daily on her charm bracelet. The cake knife as well as the silver platters with the baby bites on them were Spencer’s grandparents. They loved being able to include their loved ones that they miss daily.
