How did you two meet?
We met through mutual friends around 2015. We were both in relationships. When my long-term relationship fizzled towards the end of spring 2017, Julian and I reconnected. Coincidentally, he also got out of a relationship, and he took a chance to see if I was at work at the Homewood Library on Saturday, June 3, 2017. He apparently harbored a crush on me for years, and finally, he got the courage to re-introduce himself. Ever since then, we never looked back.
The Proposal
Julian knows that one of my biggest dreams is to visit a lavender field because they are my favorite flowers. While we were planning our 2021 summer trip to Portland, Oregon, Julian said that he was going to take me to a lavender field in Mount Hood. After two delayed flights and arriving in Portland past 1 a.m., we forced ourselves to wake up early before the fields opened because we were going to have a tour. The drive was two hours, but we made it! There was no tour, however. Julian called the company weeks ago to plan a surprise proposal. It was just me, him, the photographer and the beautiful scenery of the lavender and mountains. It was unexpected and magical!
Favorite Wedding Moment
When Julian started quoting the “Before Trilogy” movies (Before Sunrise, Before Sunset and Before Midnight), and I quoting my favorite Haruki Murakami quote about love during our special vows.
Favorite Wedding Detail
My favorite detail was definitely dancing and singing along with all our friends and family until midnight. Our first dance was to “Luna” by the Smashing Pumpkins. Another one of my favorite details was seeing Julian and his groomsmen change from their dress shoes to their Nike Blazers which was Julian’s surprise gift to them for the reception.
