Red Dot Gallery
The Red Dot Gallery is offering afternoon art classes–as many as six-week-long sessions–for kids ages 8-12 years old. Mediums include pastels, acrylic paint, watercolor, pencil, clay, collages, scratch boards and found-object constructions. Projects will not often be repeated, so young artists will enjoy creating different masterpieces every week even if taking several sessions back to back. This reading group meets once a month to talk about different themes relating to that month’s particular topic. This January, the group will be focusing on the history, significance and impact of the Holocaust. Attendees are invited to pick any book or movie relating to this tragic event and share his or her thoughts. Next month’s theme will be love stories in honor of Valentine’s Day. Learn more here.

Children in grades kindergarten-5th grade are invited to come play with dogs from the Greater Birmingham Humane Society and read books with them, too. This event will take place in the Round Auditorium at the Homewood Library. Learn more here.
