The Homewood Public Library
The Homewood Public Library is hosting a short story competition this month! All genres are accepted, but stories must be written for a PG-13 or below audience. All stories are required to be less than 3,000 words, and each person may only submit one story. The winners will be announced in December. To learn more, click here.

An Evening with Ellie and Drew Holcomb

The Wright Center at Samford University
Samford University and Portraits of Hope are partnering together to host Nashville singer-songwriters Ellie and Drew Holcomb for a night of festive fun. Drew, who is the lead singer for Drew Holcomb and the Neighbors, released “Strangers No More,” which earned a number-one Americana single in “Find Your People.” Ellie, after marrying Drew in 2006, joined the band and has also had success as a solo artist and author. Edgewood Elementary School’s 100th Anniversary

Edgewood Elementary School
Edgewood Elementary School is hosting its centennial celebration, featuring a ribbon cutting ceremony for the school’s new historical marker as well as games and activities for attendees ages 0-100! At the ceremony, the school will reveal its “walking timeline” of its history in the gym and an artifact museum in the library. Event attendees will also get to sing, “Happy Birthday,” to the school which will be followed by light refreshments in the cafeteria. For more information, click here.
