1. Downtown Homewood Christmas Parade

Tuesday, Dec. 4 | 6:30 p.m.
Downtown Homewood

You can’t get much more Homewood than the lighting of the 18th Street star, and the annual parade is the same night to boot. After the parade ends at City Hall Plaza, a special visitor in a big red suit will arrive, the Homewood High School Band will play and the Christmas tree will be lit.

2. Legacy League Christmas Home Tour

Thursday, Dec. 6 | 10 a.m.–2 p.m. and 4-8 p.m.

Tour homes in all their festive glory—plus festive hors d’oeuvres and a holiday gift market at the Samford president’s home. Proceeds benefit the Legacy League’s scholarships to Samford University for students with significant financial need and challenging circumstances. For tickets visit samford.edu/legacyleague/.

3. Jingle All the Way with Storyteller Dolores Hydock & the Music of Bobby Horton

What’s better to get you in the holiday spirit than stories and music? Be sure to make reservations to claim your seat. Tickets are $25 and will be available beginning Nov. 5 online or at the library’s Adult Services Desk.

4. Alabama Symphony’s Home for the Holidays

Friday, Dec. 7 | 7 p.m.
Samford University Wright Center

Chris Confessore conducts as the renowned Hilltop Singers from Birmingham-Southern College and Embellishments Handbell Ensemble join the Orchestra for an unforgettable evening of holiday cheer!

5. The Nutcracker

Dec. 14-16, 21-23
Friday & Saturday 7:30 p.m.
Saturday & Sunday 2:30 p.m.
Samford University Wright Center

Did you know only eight companies in the world are licensed by The Balanchine Trust to perform the George Balanchine version of The Nutcracker, and one of them is the Alabama Ballet? Come get transported to the lands of sugar plum fairies and toy soldiers with Tchaikovsky melodies.

6. Sounds of the Season by Opera Birmingham

Sunday, Dec. 16 | 2:30 p.m.
Samford University Brock Recital Hall

Drawing on the talent of the Opera Birmingham Chorus, the concert will feature solo and ensemble performances by native Birmingham artists to set the perfect mood for the holiday season.

7. Libraryflix: Elf

Tuesday, Dec. 18 | 3:30-5 p.m.
Homewood Public Library

Come out to see this holiday favorite as Buddy the elf leaves the North Pole for New York.
