HOW DID YOU TWO MEET?
Jeb and I knew of each other through mutual friends. We both knew the other liked to mountain bike, so I secretly hoped he would ask me to go biking with him. I went for a solo ride at Red Mountain Park one day, but it got rained out. I packed up, and as I started down the road, the sun came out once more. At this point, I was right across from Samford and planned to pull off on Lakeshore Trail and ride a few more miles. Jeb happened to be biking across the intersection! We waved at each other, and Jeb followed me as I pulled in. When I opened the back of my car, he was thrilled to see that I had my bike and was ready to ride.
THE PROPOSAL
We went to get fruit bowls, and we walked around Homewood Park on a cold, drizzly day in November. I was wearing a special red dress because I had a feeling that this day might be the day he was going to propose! He started to read a wonderful poem he wrote and the prayer he prayed for his future wife. It was surreal. He got on one knee and asked me to marry him! After this, we watched an unbelievable sunset that seemed to say God was with us.
WEDDING DRESS DETAILS
The dress I ended up wearing was not what I planned. It was, however, the exact dress I always loved and dreamed of wearing as a little girl. When I went to try on dresses, I thought I wanted some sparkle and other details, but I changed my mind once I put this one on. I chose it because it was timeless, classy and simple.
WEDDING PLANNING ADVICE
Don’t waste your energy trying to make the “right decision” on all of the details. Know your general likes and dislikes and trust the vendors! It really helps alleviate decision fatigue and makes the process more fun and exciting.
