How did you two meet?
We met in fall 2017 at Birmingham-Southern College. We met on campus during orientation training before the incoming freshman class arrived. Owen was beginning his senior year, and I was beginning my sophomore year. Although we had many mutual friends and went to such a small college, we had never met before!
The Proposal
He had a family vacation to his grandparents’ Panama City Beach house planned in June 2021. One night we went to dinner with his grandparents and brother. After dinner I asked him to walk down to the beach, so we could take pictures at sunset. Little did I know I was setting him up for such success. His brother had slipped out to “take a phone call from work” and photographed us as we walked down the pier at the Water Sound Beach Club. It was on our walk on the pier down to the beach that Owen popped the best question of my life!
Favorite Wedding Moment
Robert Sturdivant from Trinity United Methodist Church officiated our ceremony. A few weeks before, he asked me and Owen separately to write a few things or reasons why we loved each other. It was so special to hear what Owen had written for me and to share what I had written for him during our intimate ceremony.
Favorite Wedding Detail
We had the Heavenly Donut truck come for a ‘late night snack.’ We used Bubbles and Brews as our bar and had them drive from the dinner area for cocktail hour up to the pavilion for the reception. I loved this because guests didn’t have to go far to get a refill!
