How did you two meet?

Kyle and I met during our sophomore year of college at The University of Alabama. Our mutual friend, Caroline, introduced us to each other at an event his fraternity, Sigma Nu, was hosting. We instantly just clicked, and it really was a love at first sight moment!

The Proposal

The year 2020 was a very rough year for us. At the start of the year, Kyle suddenly lost his step-father, John Bresnan, who was the former Fire Chief of Homewood. While grieving this incredible loss, we were then hit by the pandemic. It seemed as if a dark cloud was over us the entire year until Dec. 22. Kyle and I were visiting my family in Fairhope, Alabama, and that night the two of us went to my favorite place, The Grand Hotel, to watch the sunset. We were standing along the boardwalk, watching the beautiful sunset when Kyle got on one knee and proposed! He had my cousin who is a photographer there to capture the incredible moment, and all of my family members were there to congratulate us. It was the best way to end a very tough year.

Favorite Wedding Moment

Our favorite moment of the wedding was the homily that was given during the ceremony. Our minister, David Seamon, talked about all of the seasons of life that Kyle and I have been through in our lives. In the 10 years we have been together, I lost my father, and Kyle lost his stepfather. We discovered strengths in our careers, and we adopted three dogs together. However, the one constant through all of these seasons of life has been our love and support for each other.

Favorite Wedding Detail

My absolute favorite wedding detail was the tulip chandelier which was done by Wild Things in Homewood. It was the focal point of the ceremony, and it looked so beautiful in the pictures. Another memorable detail was our exit from the reception. To honor Kyle’s stepfather, we had a vintage fire engine as our getaway car.
