HOW DID YOU TWO MEET?

Matt and I met several years ago when we were both sophomores in college. I went to Samford, and Matt went to UAB. We were both involved in the college ministry at Briarwood Presbyterian Church, and over the years, we became friends. However, we didn’t start dating until the fall of 2020.

THE PROPOSAL

Matt proposed to me at a bench on Jemison Trail–one of our favorite places to walk together. He picked me up after work, claiming we were going on a little walk to kill time before our dinner reservations. Once we started walking, however, I realized something was up when we came to a bench surrounded by flowers. He had put together a beautiful box with some pictures from our relationship and a letter he had written for me (that I now have framed on my nightstand). After proposing, he surprised me with a little party put together by my sister and family at my parent’s home.

WEDDING DRESS DETAILS

I had an amazing experience at Carriage House Weddings when looking for my wedding dress. Matt and I were only engaged for six months, so I knew I would have a quick turnaround time for finding a dress. I ended up choosing one that was totally different than what I thought I would pick. The classic silhouette and train on my dress were the details that drew me to it.

WEDDING PLANNING ADVICE

My main advice for brides planning their wedding is to remember that even though the process can be busy and overwhelming at times, you want this day to be something that is special to you and your husband since it is a day celebrating you two.
