Sadie Johnson & Jordan Acton: A Homewood Wedding

How We Met: Jordan and I (Sadie) both grew up in Homewood. We had many mutual friends, but it wasn’t until we shared a class our junior year that we really started to notice each other. Our mutual friend invited us to hangout one weekend, and we were inseparable from then on. We were 16 when we first started dating!

The Proposal: Jordan planned a weekend trip with our best friends to Blue Ridge, Georgia. He kept the secret so well that I was convinced that this was not THE weekend, but little to my knowledge everyone was in on it. We were getting ready to go to dinner and were outside taking pictures of the incredible view of the mountains. We posed for a picture, but I felt Jordan step away from me. When I turned, he got down on one knee and asked me to be his wife. We spent the rest of the weekend celebrating in the beautiful town of Blue Ridge.

The Wedding Dress: Something beautiful, something simple, something sweet. I had dreamt about my wedding dress since I was a little girl. This was the BEST part of wedding planning. Along with my closest family we found the perfect dress at Bella’s in Hoover. It was the very first dress I tried on.

Favorite Moment: Our send-off after our ceremony! Our family cheered and tossed bird seed as we ran out of the church and drove off.

Favorite Details: Our invitations were custom-designed with a drawing of our chapel; they were so simple and beautiful. We kept our wedding ceremony small and were able to spend that precious time with our closest family, which made our wedding even more special.

What We Are Doing Now: Living in the Birmingham area with our dog Mosley. I am a nurse at Grandview Medical Center and Jordan is a driver for UPS.
