2. West Homewood Farmer’s Market

Support your neighbors, local businesses and farmers by buying produce and more at this weekly summer market. Find everything from fresh produce to arts and craft vendors to live music. The market runs through the first Tuesday of August. Learn more at westhomewood.com.

3. Vulcan Birthday Bash

Sunday, June 2 | 12-4 p.m.
Vulcan Park & Museum

The Big Guy is turning 115, so join in for a celebration with all kinds of family fun. Admission is $8 for adults and $6 for children, or free for Vulcan Park and Museum members and children 4 and under.

4. Miss Alabama Scholarship Pageant

June 5-8 | Wednesday-Friday 7-9 p.m. & Saturday 7-10 p.m.
Leslie Wright Fine Arts Center, Samford University

Seeing as this is the state of Alabam’s 200th anniversary, this year’s Miss Alabama theme is Alabama 200. Forty-seven competitors will share their talents in hopes of winning scholarship money on the Wright Center stage, with the top 10 contestants taking the stage on Saturday night. 5. Ashley McCullars Art Reception

Thursday, June 6 | 5-7 p.m.

6. Party on the Porch

Friday, June 7 | 5:30-7:30 p.m.
Alabama Outdoors (Homewood location)

Join Alabama Outdoors and The North Face as they host this event to benefit the Big Cahaba Cleanup for the Cahaba River Society. Grab dinner and dessert from Cantina on Wheels and Mountain Brook & Edgewood Creamery, drink craft beer and play games while listening to the music of Alabama’s own The Yellow Dandies. While you’re there, sign up to volunteer for the cleanup on Saturday, June 8 too.

7. 17th Annual SVLC Garage Sale

Friday-Saturday, June 7-8 | 8 a.m.-2 p.m.
Shades Valley Lutheran Church

Come out as the Shades Valley Lutheran youth group looks to raise funds to support their summer mission trip to Youngstown, Ohio. Items for sale will include clothes, furniture, kitchen accessories, table settings and more. Any remaining items are donated to charity at the end of the sale.

8. Yoga at the Library

Maybe you’ve always wanted to try yoga, but never have. Or maybe you would call yourself an expert. Either way, this class is for you, and it’s free. No registration is required. All you need to bring is yourself and your yoga mat.

9. Special Effects Makeup for Teens

Monday, June 17 | 2-3 p.m.
Homewood Public Library Room 101

Ever wondered how movie monsters are created? Like Zombies in The Walking Dead? What’s the secret behind transforming characters in This is Us into older versions of themselves? Get the inside scoop on all the special effects makeup secrets of Hollywood. All rising 6th-12th graders are welcome, and supplies are provided. Register at homewoodpubliclibrary.org.

10. The Divines

Wednesday, June 19 | 6 p.m.
Pizzeria GM

Birmingham natives and brothers Kenny, Tilfy and Sethy Divine formed a cover band called The Divines back in 2012 and have been entertaining audiences ever since. Join them at Homewood’s Pizzeria GM for a fun night of pizza and live music.
