1. Kids’ Mardi Gras Parade

Watch out for flying beads and moon pies at the park this afternoon as kid “floats” of strollers and wagons take over the park leading up to Mardi Gras. All are welcome to this MOMS Club of Birmingham-East event, nad it will be held at the same time on March 3 in case of rain on March 1. Laissez les bons temps rouler (“Let the good times roll”)!
2. Student Art Contest
March 1-27
Homewood Public Library
Calling all Jefferson County students! Submit one original work of art produced within the last 12 months at the Children’s Department by Sunday, March 27, with an entry form attached to the back of the work. Artwork will be judged by a panel of local artists winners selected for various grade categories. Accepted entries will be displayed in Homewood Library’s Ellenburg Art Gallery during the month of April. Entry forms can be downloaded from the library’s website.
3. Exceptional Foundation Chili Cook-Off
March 5
Brookwood Village
Eat chili—so much chili—while benefitting The Exceptional Foundation’s work to meet the social and recreational needs of individuals of all ages who are mentally challenged. Get your tickets here.
4. Taste of Homewood
March 10 | 5:30-8 p.m.
Rosewood Hall
It’s time to come eat all of Homewood in one night with samplings from more than 25 Homewood-area restaurants, caterers, bakeries, coffee shops and beverage merchants. Proceeds go to the Homewood Chamber of Commerce’s scholarship fund for local students as well as economic development efforts in the community. 5. Kiwanis Pancake Day
March 12 | 7 a.m.-12 p.m.
The Exceptional Foundation
Rise and shine, and come out for some hot cakes, sausage and coffee. This year’s event will be setup as a drive-thru, and more event details will be posted on homewood-mtbrook-al.kiwanisone.org. Organizer the Kiwanis Club of Homewood-Mountain Brook awards Key Club college scholarships, YMCA camp scholarships, and funds projects at family-centric organizations such as Children’s of Alabama, The Exceptional Foundation and local schools.
6. Rotary St. Patrick’s Day Event
March 17 | 5:30-9 p.m.,
Little London
Put on your green and come out for silent and live auctions, music by Hooley and food at this annual Homewood Rotary fundraiser. Auction items include a trip to Ireland, beach and lake house rentals, football tickets and more. This event supports college scholarships to deserving Homewood High School graduates. 7. Always a Bridesmaid

In this comedic romp, four friends have sworn to keep the promise they made on the night of their senior prom: to be in each other’s weddings…no matter what.
