How We Met: I (Sarah) decided I would ask Eric to my last semi-formal at Middle Tennessee State University just as friends, and it was the most fun first date I had ever experienced. A few weeks later, he showed up to my last chapter meeting with a dozen roses in hand. He shared some news about an upcoming philanthropy week, and he then asked me to come to the front and asked me on a second date.

The Proposal: We took a guided hike 3 miles down the Grand Canyon, and when our tour guide asked if we wanted a picture overlooking the beautiful view, Eric’s breathing got really heavy and I thought he was just nervous being close to the edge. We took a “picture” (it was actually a video), and Eric asked me to spend the rest of my life by his side.

Favorite Moment:  We didn’t really have a rain plan, and the Wednesday before the wedding, Birmingham was under tornado warnings with terrible rain. I kept praying, “Lord, please let this pass!” and thankfully it did. The weather could not have been any more perfect. Our minister and family friend, Hunter Twitty, gave a beautiful message, and with his help, Eric and I wrote our vows together.

Favorite Details: My brother works for BlackRidge Land Co., and they were kind enough to let us use their truck as our getaway car. Our bar was custom built by my talented father-in-law, and my mother-in-law surprised us with custom cornhole boards with our ceremony site as the backdrop.
