Fall events look different than in years’ past, but that doesn’t mean you can’t have fun with social distance. Here’s our roundup for this month.
1. Sims Garden Pumpkin & Mum Sale
Sept. 12-Oct. 31 | 11 a.m.-6 p.m.
913 Irving Road
It’s pumpkin season, and now you can shop (with safe distance) without leaving Homewood. Stop by the Sims Garden in Edgewood to get your pumpkin and mums for fall décor and fun. For preorders and questions call 205-332-0949 or email simsgarden@homewoodal.net.
2. Book Clubs, Virtual Programs & More
Your Computer
The Homewood Public Library might not be holding in person programs like usual, but there’s still plenty to learn and experience with their virtual book clubs, teen programs and more. Find a full list of them here.
3. Lift Your Spirits … While Lifting Your Feet Up!
Sept. 14-20
Homewood’s Community Grief Support has moved its annual fundraiser this year with an online art and entertainment. The auction will feature artwork, vacations, sports memorabilia, and other items that will benefit the organization’s mission to enhance the lives of those who have lost loved ones. “Now, more than ever, those who are grieving the loss of a loved one need our services,” Administrative Director Lisa Harrison says. “We’re needed not only due to COVID-19 deaths, but due to the isolation that accompanies all types of grief during this pandemic.” For more information, visit communitygriefsupport.org.
4. Virtual September Membership Luncheon and Annual Legislative Update
Sept. 15 | 12-1 p.m.
On Zoom
It’s time for an annual update on the state legislature from Senator Jabo Waggoner and Representative David Faulkner, and the Homewood Chamber of Commerce is hosting it virtually this year. Register here.
