1. Fall Reading Program

You heard right-it’s time for FALL reading at our favorite library, with programs for kids, teens and adults! All you have to do is log the books you listen to or read. Sign up here.

2. Storypalooza

Wednesdays
9:30-10 a.m.
Homewood Public Library Courtyard

Time for an energetic and interactive storytime with Miss Cristina. Stories are geared towards preschoolers, but everyone is welcome to listen, sing and dance along! You can also come to Tinker Tales with Miss Erica Thursday at 9:30 a.m. and Wee Ones with Miss Mary Tuesdays at 9:30 a.m.

3. Patriot Day Ceremony

Saturday, Sept. 11
8:30 a.m.
Crestline Village

2021 marks 20 years since Sept. 11, 2001, and this annual ceremony will remember that day that forever shaped our country. The Cities of Homewood, Mountain Brook, and Vestavia Hills rotate hosting this ceremony, and this year the City of Mountain Brook is hosting.

4. Pumpkin & Mum Sale

Sept. 18-Oct. 31
11 a.m.-6 pm. Daily
Sims Garden, 913 Irving Road

Come out to find pumpkins of all kinds, mums of many colors, mumkins, crafts, a scarecrow trail, tricks and treats! For questions or preorders, contact simsgarden@homewoodal.net.

5. The Engaged Collective

Sunday, Sept. 19
2-4 p.m.
Haven, 2515 6th Ave. S.

After a year of virtual shows and remote meetings, Engaged Birmingham, a local wedding planning shop in Homewood, is hosting a wedding planning event to connect Birmingham brides with vendors in town. This year’s event will showcase Engaged’s curated collection of top wedding vendors, including bridal gown shops, photographers and videographers, floral designers, caterers, cake bakers and more. Brides can pre-register and find more information at EngagedCollective.com. Tickets are $10 for non-members, with complimentary tickets for members, and can be purchased online or at the door.

6. Annual Legislative Update Luncheon

Tuesday, Sept. 21
11:30 a.m.
The Club

Homewood Chamber of Commerce will host updates from Alabama Senator Jabo Waggoner and Representative David Faulkner. Get your tickets for it here.

7. Grateful Dads

Sunday, Sept. 26
3-6 p.m.
Pizzeria GM

Not one but TWO dad bands will perform this year for this annual Homewood City Schools Foundation event, this year being held outdoors in the Pizzeria GM parking lot. Tickets, $50 each, include two drink tickets and food, and they can be purchased at gratefuldads.instagift.com. 

8. Take Home Tea Party

Saturday, Oct. 2
Pick Up at Sims Garden, 913 Irving Road

Help make Miss Sims’ legacy wish for Sims Garden come true in honor of her 106th birthday. Select your tea service at cityofhomewood.com/sims-garden by Sept. 30, and pick them up from Sims Garden on Oct. 2 from 12-3 p.m. The tea service will be prepared by Little London Kitchen.
