Holiday Events Not to Miss in Homewood

Holiday Events Not to Miss in Homewood

Tis the season for parades and star lightings and festive homes. Check out our list of holiday happenings with social distance this month.

1. Sims Garden Photos with Santa

Dec. 3-6, 10-13, 17-20
11 a.m.-3 p.m.

Take a “Santa-safe” photo with Santa at Edgewood’s favorite garden! Each appointment includes 10 minutes with Santa, safely distanced, and a gift. To make an appointment, email simsgarden@homewoodal.net.

2. Downtown Homewood Christmas Parade + Star Lighting

Sunday, Dec. 6 | 6:30 p.m.
Downtown Homewood

This year’s Downtown Homewood Christmas Parade will happen in reverse: floats will remain stationary on the usual route as spectators drive through to allow for greater social distancing due to COVID-19. But like always the star atop 18th Street will be lit, so save the date for festive celebration.

 3. Walk for a Claus

Sunday, Dec. 6 | 1-8 p.m.
The Grocery BrewPub

The Homewood Santa Claus Society is back at it again! Participating “Santas” will enjoy Christmas cheer at the Grocery Brewpub, take a 1.5-mile “Santa walk” through Homewood, and conclude with resting back at the Grocery Brewpub after delivering their gifts. Participation in this event is for men ages 21+ and requires the walkers to don a Santa Claus suit. Each admission ticket includes food, beverage, and Koozie, and a portion of the proceeds from this event will be donated to The Mike Slive Foundation to raise awareness of prostate cancer. Get tickets at eventbrite.com.

4. Christmas Home Tour

Thursday, Dec. 10
10 a.m.-2 p.m. & 4-8 p.m.

Tour homes in all their festive glory at this 10th annual event to benefit the Samford Legacy League’s scholarships to Samford University for students with significant financial need and challenging circumstances. Due to COVID-19, masks covering nose and mouth are required, guests are asked to follow social distancing guideline, and each guest will have temperature check and complete a symptom checklist prior to entry.
