Kensie Kile & Patrick Ritchey: A Homewood Wedding

How We Met: Patrick and I (Kensie) met our senior year of high school at the Homewood High School Homecoming Dance. Patrick attended the dance with one of my close friends, and we had the opportunity to get to know each other at the after party. After talking for a few months, we made plans to go to get ice cream, but the ice cream shop was closed. So, we ended up at McDonalds for a 99-cent vanilla cone.

The Proposal: On a hike at Oak Mountain in November, Patrick got down on one knee and asked me to marry him.

The Wedding Dress: I always knew I wanted to get my gown from Bustle, and it was the very first place we went to look. When I saw THE dress on me in the mirror, it truly did take my breath away. I gasped. My mom was crying and I was teary eyed. It was so perfect—and it even had pockets!

Favorite Moment: Being a COVID bride was definitely hard. We had to cut our guest list back drastically, and our venue changed three times. I think it all ended up being for the best though. We had a small ceremony and reception with 60 of our closest people. The small reception was so fun and intimate, and we danced and drank the night away!

Favorite Details: We were both very picky about everything being cohesive. From the save the date to the party favors, everything needed to go together—and it did. We are also both very detail-oriented, and everything that Suzanne with Stems & Styles did exceeded our expectations, from the dinner table arrangements to the bouquets. Our photographer Katrina captured everything so perfectly, and those pictures are memories we will cherish forever.
