Abby Prutzman & Wesley Walker: A Homewood Wedding

How We Met: Wesley and I (Abby) met at Homewood Middle School when we were in the sixth grade. I had a major crush on Wesley in 2011. Our senior year of high school we went to both the Homecoming dance and Prom together. I remember telling my mom, “I’m nervous to start dating him because I think he’s the man I’m going to marry.” Soon after graduating in 2013, we officially started dating.

The Proposal: Wesley asked if he could come over to my place to cook us dinner, and as we were getting ready to eat, he got down on one knee. I was so shocked that at first I thought he was picking up lint from the rug! I just said, “What are you doing?” We barely ate the amazing dinner he prepared because we were so excited. Afterwards he told me we were going somewhere… to a party to celebrate with our friends and family!

Favorite Moments: As Wesley shook his brother’s hand at the altar, Griffin handed him a small turtle. Don’t worry, it was quickly placed into a container with water. No animals were harmed! Leading up to the wedding my mom kept joking about it not being fair that there is a father-daughter dance but no mother-daughter dance, so I made sure we had a moment together for one. Lastly, as the reception was wrapping up our guests were not ready to go home. After some loud chanting the band agreed to one more song.

Favorite Details: We custom designed cocktail napkins with fun facts about each of us. Guests had fun reading/finding out all of the different fun facts! Also I asked a close friend of ours to paint an image of Trinity United Methodist church for us and then used it for our invitations.
